The tunit box is fantastic, there now seems to be loads more power throughout the rev range and the noticeable turbo lag that was there before has all but gone. Also the average fuel consumption has improved by about 3-4 mpg! It's also good how easy the box is to remove if need be, 10 minute job. It really has increased my enjoyment of the car, I really can't fault it, worth every penny.
Alan Preston from Bolton,
Audi, A6 3.0 TDi
This is my fourth Audi TDi and my first A6. I opted for the 3.0Tdi Quattro SE Avant as it rides a little higher than the S-Line which helps when towing my caravan. When reading reviews the A6 was criticised for a firm ride so I had the adaptive air suspension fitted and it is superb, in comfort mode it floats along and gives a superb ride, however for a sporty ride just set it to dynamic. This is my first automatic and the tiptronic is a dream to use with apparently seamless shifting, you can over ride it at anytime with the shift paddles giving you total control. I had my 3 previous TDi's superchipped but this time I have gone for the Tunit unit which I had fitted at Tunit Chorley along with a K+N Filter. If you sell the car you can take it off in minutes and Tunit will give you a part ex allowance if it is not compatible with your new car. It now punches out 275 bhp and the power delivery is smooth and instant.

A fantastic product. As a taxi owner it saves me on fuel but also makes the car easier to drive with less gear changing because of the extra torque

The Tunit fitted and working well. Additional power great but now getting 33 mpg versus the 25 mpg that I was getting.
I originally left the setting at the default 5 and was getting about 29mpg, I thought by moving to 7, I would have increased power but reduced mpg, however the opposite has happened.
I fitted the unit myself in the end, it was very simple to do.

From knowing little about diesel tuning I knew my car was more capable, a friend recommended tunit. One phone call convinced me it is a quality product, I collected my box the same afternoon were I was taken through the product install and even shown were to locate the box on my car. The service was fantastic and even before fitting the tunit box I left with a smile and now an even bigger one with the difference it has made to my car!! thanks

I was quite sceptical about investing in a Tunit unit, however having now fitted one I wish I had bought one for my last vehicle now having witnessed the difference. I am still trying to get my head around the amount of increased performance and fuel consumption, logic says increased performance reduces fuel efficiency, not in this case it?s simply amazing. I used to average around 36-37 MPG, since fitting the Tunit V-CR I now get 46-47 MPG, and towing well, that?s another amazing change, previous returns of 22-24 MPG where as now I am getting 31-33 MPG, but you really benifit here with the increase torque, outstanding and thank you!

Hello Dan,
Thanks for your reply, got your instructions in the box actually, dad never mentioned they were in there, therefore managed it no problem, installed in 10 mins- no battery power this time,so saved a job. Done a test drive and was amazing difference, infact i had to brake that hard from around 100 mph,my bl**dy pad wear light is now on! Your costing me a fortune Dan!
So on that note.. ive whacked it up to number seven,s*d the expense.

Thanks for all your help on Monday, I didn?t appreciate the difference in my car until yesterday. Getting into it after not driving for 24 hours was a revelation. Cold starting did not produce the usual black smoke, there was no hesitation when moving off form standstill and the throttle response was much quicker with VERY smooth acceleration. So smooth that my wife commented on it. The improvement to torque at low revs means that the car will trickle along in 3rd gear without throttle, even up a slight incline! All in all Tunit is worth every penny.

This is my 3rd Tunit and I would not run a tdi without one. The current tunit has improved the torque tremendously making it far easier to drive due to less gear changes. The throttle response is instant without any turbo lag and I would recommend a Tunit to friends and family.

I've got the tunit turned up as high as possible as my car is always packed with heavy gear and still performs well. Seems progressively smoother and doesn't have such a bad dead spot at high revs. I shall probably go through tyres more quickly but it's rejuvenated my love of the car and on average the consumption is still better than before but exact figures I'm not sure of.

I called in last week and decided to go-ahead with yourselves fitting the unit to my BMW 330D. After a short while (approx 30 mins), my car was fitted with the unit and ready to go. I could not believe the instant response as soon as I accelerated, as, with most diesels, the turbo lag was obvious before fitting of the tunit...to my amazement, this turbo-lag has been completely eliminated, giving my car instant acceleration. This was my main objective with this already powerful car, and after driving back home, I was totally convinced of the improvement both in economy and power. It feels as though I have had a completely new more powerful engine fitted, as the power range through the gearbox (auto) is smoother and about 30-40% quicker!!! To make matters even more immpressive, I have noticed approx. 12 mpg gain. This is a true reading on my on-board-computer, and I have now worked out that it will take me about 6-7 months of driving to "get-my-money-back" on this faultless unit! What more can I say. Absolutely thrilled with the product and I would recommend it to everyone

Fantastic company to deal with. Tunit gives the vehicle more drivability and low down torque great for either towing or carrying heavy cargo. Inturn you get better mpg due to staying in top gear over longer periods. Used them for years wouldn't go anywhere else.

Hi Dan.

Thank you for the chat on Friday. Transferred the unit to my new 335d. Using setting 6 the effect was immediate and obvious. Previous slight "hesitation" when pulling away now gone completely, car is much more responsive, the auto box seems to use lower revs, car is quieter and smoother, economy improved etc. Quite how the same unit can perform so well on 2 different cars is a mystery to me (though perhaps not to you guys!) but it does and I am again, deeply impressed with the product. A brilliant car just got a whole lot better.

Just thought I'd drop you a mail to say how things are going with the car. So far, no problems whatsoever; well, not true actually - if I continue driving it the way I have been, I'll loose my license!
Power delivery is very smooth, and it definitely revs longer - in fact, it's much more like a petrol engine at the top end. comparitively, on a twisty road, I think I could keep up with my Boxster S - would be left on the straights, but through the bends... all that torque wins ! And the car is superbly balanced.
Fuel consumption has dropped to 42mpg, but I've only been doing short journeys, so can't really comment upon that being the true average.
Once again, thanks for your hospitality on my visit to Chorley - it was good to see what really goes on in the tuning world!
Look forward to reading Victors article.

The tunit was fitted and we gave it a road test, thank god we got full M Sport suspension, the roll on torque was awesome, acceleration in 3rd and 4th was like being on a bike. This was on the setting it came with, I will up it soon to try it, I guess somewhere around 5bhp a click? Anyway, your little box has to be the best kept secret out there. Just had the Tunit V-CR fitted to my 2008 BMW 318 Diesel. Have to say that service and after-care from the company is excellent. Dealer fitted it in 10 mins, took me through de-installation etc and even knocked £20 off the bill. My car is now a 320DSE- torque, economy and smooth engine pull have all improved. Hi Daniel, since the fitment of the Tunit V-CR unit to my new Citroen C5 I have noticed a marked increase in fuel economy, performance and refinement. At a steady motorway cruise the average consumption has improved from 40mpg to in excess of 50mpg. Performance has also increased and the added midrange torque makes overtaking swifter and safer. I am delighted with the result, especially as I fitted the Tunnit to enhance performance rather than economy.
The added benefit of being able to transfer the tunit to another vehicle in the future is the icing on the cake.

Hi Dan,

Seven months down the road and all is good with the Tunit V-CR on my Citroen Xsara Picasso. I have been meaning to email since having it fitted but days have turned into weeks and weeks into months! I wanted to tell you that both Andy and John are a credit to your team. Not only did they fit the Tunit for me (you weren't wrong about the plug not being in the most accessible place!) and optimise the settings, they also give me a cupa and a biscuit :-)

As for the Tunit, if I hadn't seen Andy fit it I would have thought something else had been done to the vehicle! I wasn't really sure what to expect however the difference was immediately noticeable during the test drive and even more so after I started to play a little more. I know the Picasso is only a family vehicle however the Tunit V-CR has made this a great deal more fun to drive :-))

I would also like to report that I have been getting good results with the fuel economy ranging from 2-9mpg more than before fitting it. Obviously this has varied based on the journeys and the setting being used on the Tunit.

Thanks again,
Paul Eslick from Manchester,

Thanks very much got it fitted easily once you had shown me where to plug it.
Just done a short school run and WOW was never going to be a fast car due to its power to weight ratio it was woefully underpowered.. It is a big american lump of iron after all.
However have wacked the tunit up to 9 and what a difference, it now drives just so much better, I no longer have to floor the throttle to get a response from the automatic box/engine. It is now truely my dream (family 4x4) car.. It now goes as well as it looks.
What a truely amazing piece of kit; every diesel engine should have a Tunit !
Thanks again for the phone calls, emails and humouring me.

Mike Salmon from Warrington,

November 2008
First impressions with the 500 with the Tunit fitted are without doubt quite sensational. The engine is very free revving with a fantastic spread of torque right through to 4000rpm. When driven quickly you fly though the gearbox making the car a whole lot of fun. Its not just the top end of the rev range to benefit either, at 30mph put it in fifth and the 500 purrs along quite happily without any hesitation. Put your foot hard down from this speed and I would have expected an amount of judder and not much engine pick up, but no she pulls away a little slow at first but cleanly never the less.
The engine is definitely more smoother and flexible you would definitely question the cars 1.3 litres if you didnt know for something of larger capacity. A little early to comment on fuel consumption yet but first impressions are for an improvement.
My wife Lynne comments are that she has been razzing (women talk for driving briskly) with the car being so much more responsive and fun to drive, along with this has stated the on board computer showing an increase of some 2mpg even with the more enthusiastic driving. She has also said it feels a lot smoother.
Generally very pleased the tunit it has had a big impact on the little 500. We will let you know a bit more after a bit more running.

Took it off the Jag & put it on to a 2006 Mondeo TDCi ST, fitted with a K&N Induction kit, on a trip to Manchester at no more than 70 mph on cruise control it returned 62 mpg!!, this was with the A/C on & 3 x passengers in the car, the car is smoother, and the pick-up is just awsome, my tunit was the 1st one fitted to a Jaguar diesel in the UK, and was set up on the rolling road at Chorley by Neil Bromley, It would be nice to find out what the ST is puting out in BHP, very happy with the TUNIT & the back up both from Chorley & the local agent in Newcastle

I recently purchased a TUNIT for my Mondeo 130bhp Automatic
station wagon. I noticed an improvement in performance, smoothness and
fuel consumption immediately after fitting but it was not until I did
the round trip to UK last week that I really saw the difference. I drove
3500Km in seven days my average consumption was 6.5l per 100 km,
previous trips gave 7.2l per 100 km an improvement of 9.7%. The extra
power available was particularly noticeable when climbing the quite
steep hills on the French Auto route resulting in a much more relaxed
journey. I would like to congratulate you on a very good product.

I had the Tunit installed to my Transit 90 hp just 10 days ago because the fuel economy was so bad ! To say I am pleased now is a big understatement. Before I got around 360 miles per tank before and now I am getting 410 per tank. The fuel economy was expected but the extra power took me aback. I actually like driving this nearly as much as my Q7 now which is booked in next week to have the same ! Thanks

Since fitting the tunit product I noticed smoother response from the engine even though the car was only 6 months old and obviously more power. Power difference showed more on the motorway when overtaking as plenty of power on tap without gear changes. Fuel consumption is good averaging just under 50mpg if i drive softly enough. Very pleased with the product.

I was very sceptical about the results shown on the Tunit website relating to the improvements showing for my 1.6 litre Ford C Max diesel but after taking the plunge and buying one, my sceptisisim was blown away. Not only did the fuel economy improve by around 15% but this coupled with the greatly increased power output has turned my C Max into a totally different vehicle. I am now an advocate of this product and talk about its benefits to anyone I know who is interested in improving their vehicles parameters along with the added benefit of reducing their emmisions and hence improving the environment.
Robert Beeton from ,

Ive recently added a tunit V-CR to my Focus TDCI 115 and the results are truly satisfying. With the jumper set to the higest power setting my focus (already well run in) managed 148bhp (121 before) at 3800rpm and 223lb.ft of torque (190 before) at 2200 rpm on a dyno. 0 - 60 has been measured in the dry at 8.3 secs (2 secs quicker than standard) thanks to 7% ish longer gearing courtesy of 17.5" rims, taking 3 gears to do so.
Pulls impressively well from 1250 rpm, especially noticable in 4th and 5th gears.
Ive backed the jumper off two settings and made do with slightly less power for now and fuel economy really is significantly higher thanks to the substantially stronger high gear pull. I was previously averaging 45mpg over a tank, mostly urban runs of 12 miles or less but including weekly motorway runs of 120 miles.
Motorway cruising is easier and smoother (I do not know why) And at 75 mph on good road a truly ridiculous figure of 69.0 mpg showed on my trip computer after 60 miles.
A few tanks of fuel later, and without paying too much attention to what my right foot is doing the car easily does 500+ miles on about 48 litres of diesel at about 52 mpg in mixed driving conditions, 7 mpg more than pre-tunit and 2.5 mpg more than ford say the focus on big hoops will do.

You are now my bestest pal in the whole world...and all that!
After me ordering the box on the phone from you, it came well inside 24 hours and I fitted it myself after my first load at 06.00 in the dark, which is why it took about 3 minutes including tilting the cab!
I have used it for one day on factory setting 5 to get used to the extra grunt the truck now has and will turn it up bit by bit. It is very noticeable that it has more power now because I can skip 3-4 gears when fully loaded changing up which is very strange (but I can get used to it!).
Ill give it a go for a while playing with it and let you know by phone or computer message how I get on.
Again thanks mate I think for the money it cost Im glad I didnt go for the re-map.

Update - Received 24th February 2009:
Hey Dan,
Just clearing some stuff from my e-mails and found this.
My truck has now done 330,000kms plus with the tunit box and is
still on max power from the day I got it!! (I was told 535bhp).
The engine uses no oil from service to service.
How much does a 480 bhp Volvo cost? because a lad in a TARMAC 8x4 had
a go with me last year and could not run with me from 40mph up until the speed limiters.
Thanks lads I am still happy with my box. (driving like a **** does save fuel with the box though).
All the best

Hi Dan.
Just to let you know how I am getting on with my Tunit.
Fuel consumption has increased on local runs by 5mpg but best of all towing
performance is super have changed to a larger caravan since fitting the unit
its much quicker off the mark and it flys up the hills can keep in 6gear
much longer and is smother. Had to remove the unit when the crv went in for
service really do notice the loss of power and acceleration without it.
Will keep you updated when I do so long distance touring with the van this

You gave me the name of Aldon Automotive as a Company who could carry out a Rolling Road Test a few weeks ago. I contacted them and visited on the 12th July. They carried out the test and made a few small adjustments to the Tunit box and the car is now running extremely well. I have now covered about 800 miles and the performance available is certainly improved along with the general driveability. The economy has also improved and currently stands at about 46 to 47 mpg over mixed driving. The previous figure was about 42 to 43.

I fitted the Tunit as soon as I got it (on time as promised) I then headed off on my scheduled trip to Wales.
I notice immediate improvements to smoothness and engine sound.
It has changed many detailed driving changes to many to identify at this time but two stand out:
Several times I thought I was in forth when I was in sixth due to improved torque and an approx 10% gain in fuel economy but that is only one trip and less than a tank of fuel.
Thanx for your help.

Now that I have proof of the worth of the Tunit, even though the price of ?juice? is a great concern to we motorists, I can enjoy the car even more. Finally I can confirm, hand-on-heart, that the cost of the Tunit was worth-while .. I also fitted a K & N air-filter at the time of fitting the Tunit, which, reading the information supplied, should be helping the car ?breath? better.
I have been impressed with the kindness shown by you and your staff .. my questions on the merits of Tunit were met kindly, and I appreciate that.

Throttle response below 2000rpm is much improved which means less gear changing and smoother progress in town traffic. Official MPG combined figure for my Jeep Cherokee is 33.9. At present with Tunit fitted, it is returning circa 38 MPG and I expect even better re¬sults as the mileage increases and the engine loosens up.

Since October 2008 I have had the tunit fitted in my Jeep Patriot, 07, Ltd, 2.0 VW, diesel. I am really impressed with the difference in performance (and I have had it in my Jeep for 7 months now). The main thing is the car became a springster. It's brilliant in low gears! I'd definitely recommend Tunit to whoever has modern VW diesel. My car is 4x4, and it flies and is certainly not thirsty. Tunit arrived in good time and was very easy to fit, the small picture
helped a treat! On the first outing, with the dial still set at 5, the
Jeeps MPG reading steadily rose and kept rising for about 150 miles or
so giving me about 5 miles per gallon extra.
With the dial set on at a lower number, would the fuel consumption
increase further? The 0-60 time is not of huge importance to me as the
jeep is fairly quick for its size anyway!

Although these are early days I have already been agreeably surprised by the significant improvement in fuel economy registered by the car's onboard computer. Although this was never really a priority in purchasing the device it is certainly a welcome bonus.

I am a very satisfied customer and glad to have been able to find a device which my insurance firm were able to readily accept without increasing my premium too ridiculously, a device which is British instead of German or American, and a device which seems to perform as claimed.

On the 5th December 2006 I had a Tunit V-CR fitted to my Kia Sorento 2.5.
I thought you would be interested to get some feedback on the change in performance before and after its fitting.
The car is more lively with a better take-off from standstill and when overtaking vehicles at high speeds. Towing my caravan requires less throttle and again pulling away from standstill is much improved.
These observations are, of course, subjective but I have also measured the mpg of the Kia solo and towing.
When driving solo on local and longer trips I originally achieved 32-33 mpg. After the conversion I now get 36 mpg! This is excellent.
Even better is the towing improvement. Before the conversion I got 22 mpg and after the Tunit was fitted I now get 26 mpg.
Thanks also for the Millers fuel additive and the allowance for the K&N filter I already had.
This has been one of the best investments I have made. I wish yourself and the staff a happy New Year and all the best for the future.

I have used a Tunit device in my two Kia Sorento since 2003 and a Power Pedal unit for the past seven months. I am presently using the Advantage unit and it makes a fantastic performance gain compared to the bog standard factory setup. Pulling my 23 foot caravan or my one and a half ton trailer is effortless. Anyone following me up Greenhow Hill out of Pately Bridge in Nidderdale, a very long and steep hill, must be wondering what it is that is pulling either so quickly. The combination of the Advantage and the Power Pedal unit on the economy setting give me a range of almost 500 miles on a tank of diesel. The staff at Tunit are very knowledgable and helpful. Highly recommended.

Having your own horsebox is great, especially if it has full living and you can organise weekends away. It provides a much better ride for the horses especially on longer journeys. Taking friends and their horses along adds to the enjoyment and makes owning a horsebox a wonderful social event. The downside is the cost of keeping it maintained and on the road, even with newer models. To get the best from them you need to use them regularly.
I was persuaded to take my horsebox to Tunit to try to achieve better fuel consumption and improve the emissions. If I am honest I didn’t really expect it to drive any differently, I just wanted to be a more responsible truck owner.
Prior to the fitting, the technicians at Tunit had researched my engine and assessed which unit was the most appropriate to fit; this was rechecked when I arrived and the engine was viewed. The technicians I met were all very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their product; they explained the process and fitting as they went along and were able to answer all the questions I had. They took enough time and care to do the job to a high standard, the only negative for me was that the job took a little longer than anticipated, as some of the tools weren’t big enough for this type of vehicle!
When driving a horsebox it feels very different when it's heavily loaded compared to when it's empty however, even on the journey home I could already feel a difference in performance. I was familiar enough with how the vehicle normally handles on these local roads to notice a definite improvement in low-end power. The power is spread over the whole range of the gear which means you can accelerate evenly without hitting the rev limiter even on inclines and hills. You don't seem to need to work the gears constantly just to keep the truck moving evenly – this is especially important when you are fully loaded and I can see that this will help improve the quality of the journey for the horses.
It is still a little early

Hi Jamie,
To date everything is fine with your Tunit module I fitted. We have just been away touring with our caravan and the performance improvements I saw when solo driving are also evident whilst towing. The car is more responsive and pulls cleaner from low rev's, plus I have also seen a reduction in fuel consumption of around 10% whilst towing.

I've tried a few other types (cheaper and more expensive ones) and this is by far the best. I noticed power gain straight away and have already seen 8mpg improvement on the few short trips I've done. It's easy to adjust to try the different settings and find the one that suits you best which gives you more power to accelerate up to motorway speed quickly and then cruise along using less fuel whilst also allowing safer, much quicker, easier overtakes on country roads too Thank you again for the Advatage 2b

Got the Tunit....if I told you it took less than 3 minutes to fit...piece of cake.
Have it on level 5 and will leave it there as there is no smoke and there is a noticeable improvement in performance (esp mid range...oodles more torque). Where the tunit does differ from the rest is that it is much more refined...I have had previous plug and plays...all these products were either full on or off which is not what I wanted for the Merc, which now is much more responsive.

Have had the tunit for one week so the honeymoon period is over...my thoughts? Its like driving a CLS 500 with the fuel economy of a diesel. I have left the module in position 5...the result oodles of torque...snappier acceleration and just all round a better car and would you believe smoother. What Merc are at with the standard ECU Ill never know.

Having visited the motorshow and did some research tunit offered value for money and true figures to what is claimed. There was a huge difference when I fitted the Tunit kit that the egineer who installed it was very impressed. Here is an expample We drove on a stretch of road standard form and we hit 74mph at a marked point. After installing Tunit the same point we hit 89mph as the tourqe band was huge. Hopefully you will have a couple of photographs of Snowy in his retirement home in sunny Spain. He is a 1996 Mercedes E class Elegance, 2 litre petrol car. I bought him from a friend where he was surplus to requirements. The car had done a genuine 76k miles from new when I bought it. There were small bits of rust on the wheel arches and the bottom of the doors as well as the alloys, so I had the alloys refurbished, the rust cured and the car resprayed. It looks, as you can see, very well and should last forever now garaged in Spain. However it was not very economical and I have had a tunit fitted to my present car, and the one before that which is now my partner's and so I enquired some time ago and was told the car wasn't suitable. Anyway this year when I asked again, or saw a new advert, not quite sure, I was told that you could do a petrol car but hadn't done so yet. So I took the plunge and had one fitted. On the 10th November we drove to Portsmouth, took the ferry to Cherbourg and then drove through France and into Spain, then down to the Costa Blanca. The car behaved beautifully, and, although we never pushed it, I think I felt a small improvement in its acceleration. Having got to Spain we pottered about in the car for a couple of weeks before I did my fuel calculations as I didn't think it would be a fair reflection just to go off the long distance driving to get there. I had kept every one of my petrol receipts and kept a note of the mileage we had travelled overall, around 2,000 miles. The previous owner had told me that he could get around 32 mpg if taking it easy. In the short time I had the car I would have said that was fair. I can tell you now, quite honestly that my calculations showed that overall we achieved more or less 38 mpg. I was delighted. Of course we were in no hurry and the car was driven with respect, but even so I think that is an excellent improvement and that having the Tunit installed was well worth it. So I'm happy

I thought I should write to you having had a Tunit fitted to my Mercedes E-Class 220CDI Estate. I have just completed a 600 mile trip this past week end, and am delighted at the improvement in all-round performance of the car. It is so much smoother, more responsive in the 2500-3000rpm range, and has delivered a significant improvement in mpg. I am what might be described as an enthusiastic driver, and although now 70 years of age show no signs of slowing!!!! Of course, one soon becomes accustomed to the way the car now drives, and easily forgets how it used to be. I am quite honestly surprised, and very pleased at the end result and have no hesitation in recommending this modification to anyone driving a similar vehicle. 2nd Tunit I've had. the first one has been on two Saab 93's, a Volvo V60 and now a Merc C350 - very impressed with economy improvement, drivability and increased performance - a good investment. If everyone knew what it could do you'd be unable to keep up with demand. Who wouldn't buy a product that effectively ups your engine performance to the next cubic capacity up in the range, yet drops the fuel consumption to the next model down - so it pays for itself and the kick in the backside is a bonus - it's a no brainer.

my own Tunit device fitted to my MG ZT! and so together with my American

the V-CR Tunit device works exactly as advertised (how many products can
you always say that about) and more. The engine now operates in the way
the go faster looks and rear spoiler that were original to the car
suggested it should. The pick up and acceleration are nothing short of
phenomenal and the engine is turbine smooth and almost silent whilst
cruising. The fuel consumption remains unaffected and driven with
slightly less gusto is marginally better than before.
Thank you for bringing such a brilliant device to market. A definite

We were planning a long drive (approx 1300 miles round trip) to Scotland and prior to the Tunit being fitted were looking at a diesel bill of approx GBP 380.00 for the journey, based on manufacturer consumption info. The actual cost for the journey worked out at GBP 270.00, with the unit set slightly lower than when fitted - but with the vehicle fully loaded. The Highlands presented no trouble for the vehicle, with the extra torque propelling us up slopes with amazing ease, and a much more enjoyable engine noise than the raw tone generated before the unit was fitted. My wife has already brought another unit for her VW, and a friend is buying a unit shortly for his L200 aswell. Cannot recommend these units highly enough.

I found the tunit very easy to install and despite some sceptisism on my part about an 'add on box' as opposed to an ECU reprogramme, I am impressed with the unit. I had a motorway journey planned from North Wales to London in my Nissan Navara towing a Fifth Wheel and decided to drive half way, stay overnight, install the tunit the next morning and compare.

As both halves of the journey were predominantly motorway and dual carriageway, carried out in similar weather conditions (dry and blustery) and I set the cruise control to the same setting (68 mph) I think these are fairly accurate results. The first half of the journey without the Tunit the automatic gearbox seamed to be changing gear a fair bit and I achieved an average consumption of 13.1 mpg off the trip computer. The second half of the journey with the Tunit installed seamed to be more relaxed with the gearbox only changing occasionally and the vehicle able to hold it's speed more consistently, fuel consumption was 18.2 mpg, a significant improvement. I have not compared the performance when not towing in an objective manner, but subjectively it now feels more like a sports car rather than a big truck and I am averaging 32 to 34 mpg, so both performance and economy have improved.

I have had two vehicles with remapped ECUs - an Audi A3 2.0 TDI 140 PS and a Fiat Ducato 2.8 Motorhome. Both had impressive hikes in performance and improved fuel consumption, but not to the scale of the tunit, I have been changed from a sceptic to a convert.

Thanks for your help when making this decision it is not one that I will regret as I will recover the cost very quickly.

I have fitted the unit onto the X-Trail, it took about 5 minutes, it is now like a different car! I?m currently experimenting with the different settings but the car runs great on the standard setting. What I?m most impressed with is the change to the smoothness when accelerating, instead of the jerky delayed response the car now responds as soon as your foot touches the pedal. The torque increase is great and the power, in terms of smooth accelerating is amazing; I know it?s a 4x4 but it feels like a car when driven. The investment is well worth it given the scale of change to the performance; I?m sure once I stop taking advantage of the keen acceleration that I?ll start saving money on fuel but at the moment I can?t resist the temptation to floor it!

There is marked difference in power mid and top range, don't really notice in low range due to chunky tyres, I think. Have not turned up the screw..... yet, but will give it a try someday, when I'm feeling brave! If there was one for my Audi S4, I would give it a go too.

Prior to fitting, the Nissan was returning an average of 37 mpg which is somewhat more than the Nissan figures, but I put that down to the area I live in, not much traffic or traffic lights. Since fitting, it is now doing over 41mpg, even with a trailer on, and the pull from 2500 rpm is terrific. It was not bad before.

In August 2001 I had a Tunit II fitted by yourselves to my Nissan Terrano II. After driving for a couple of months I would like to say I am delighted with the improvement the unit has made. It is much more pleasent to drive with the increase in torque from low revs and throughout the rev range. The extra power is great.
Thank you very much. The lady on reception and your staff were very pleasent and helpful.

I bought a Tunit unit for my Nissan X-Trail with some scepticism. I fitted it very easily and then the surprise, it transformed the car.

Much better acceleration, more flexibility and just much more enjoyable to drive, and all this from the standard setting. I am using no more fuel for this increase in performance, and use less than I was in normal day to day driving.

Hi , thanks for your enquiry , yes the tunit was fitted by my mechanic last week.
I must say the change in the vehicle performance is remarkable , I can now use a higher gear going up hills locally , and with my Ifor williams 16ft trailer hooked up.

Just to say thanks, fitted my chip last week to my Navara D40 and after trying others I am well impressed. Got it set on number 7 running fine so far, small hiccup when set on number 8 but torque is amazing. I need a large vehicle to transport me and my heavy shooting kit to competitions all over Europe. With fuel costs the way they are, economy on a day to day basis will always be a problem. But my Navara always does in excess of 30mpg with the Tunit fitted. The more I travel, the more I save. I once followed a Porsche Caynne for several miles in Germany on the autobahn. He slowed down at his exit to have a look at what had kept pace with him! So no complaints about performance either.

Jeremy Davies of Bernard Davies Commercials was very efficient at fitting the Tunit. I have just returned from a trip of around 800 miles. I have only checked the fuel consumption by means of the vehicle computer- not brimming the tank. This, however, shows an improvement in fuel consumption of marginally over 9%. The power/torque improvement is somewhat more difficult to quantify but on the only occasion I really booted it to try it out (not towing) it really seemed to be an improvement. When towing the torque is more obvious low down in the rev range. On main roads I seem to use around 1500-2250 revs an aweful lot. It is surprising how well I can hold top with no loss of roadspeed (measured by my Tomtom) on uphill inclines compared to previously. Also I can get into top gear much easier than previously and acceleration seems much improved. I hope this feedback is useful to you.
Thanks again to you and Jeremy

Over my first 500 miles of motoring, 300 mixed and 200 towing a 1.5t caravan my computer tells me I'm getting 39.8mpg. I have just completed my first round trip and covered approximately 700mile with the Tunit VCR unit fitted on a standard setting, and I have to say WOW what a difference. The ‘pick up’ power from standing start is so much better. The cruising speed is definitely quieter and smoother, with less pressure on the accelerator, and the engine is more responsive for overtaking moves, and hill inclines. I haven't yet calculated the fuel saving, but hey, that will come later. I am very impressed and will keep you posted when I’m ready to update or upgrade. Next trip coming up is a Scotland run next week of around 1,200 miles. (can’t wait)

I started compiling this report to you in June, my Clio, together with it's Tunit, being 12 months old with 20,000 on the clock, but the sun kept shining so working outside took precedence over the computer. Here are some facts and figures on the cars perfomance.
Most of my driving is on country lanes and B roads with some town miles, this type of driving gives regular averages of 36 mph and 67 mpg.
I have made a number of trips to Southern England, doing most of my driving early morning to avoid delays. A typical round trip of 650 miles (90% motorway) giving averages of 69 mph and 61 mpg
Lest you think I pussyfoot around, I had to replace a 4 Continental tyres at 12,500 miles, I guess the road surfaces on North Lancs roads are abrasive...
Renault expect the Clio to return 67 mpg overall, but as I recall the long term test results in Diesel Car show consuption of their Clio to be mid 50's. Are the DC drivers thrashing their Clio, day in day out, or are the Renault figures overly optimistic? Either way I am more than happy with my Clio with the Tunit fitted.
You may recall that my Clio was the first 80 bhp you had worked on and the Tunit was tuned to give maximum performance through the gears, rolling road tested at 103bhp.
Once again thank you for your superb after sales customer service.

Purchased a Tunit for my Renault Clio in summer 2007. Found the installation easy despite being far from a mechanic! The staff were happy to talk me through any questions I had pre- and post- purchase. Unfortunately I was involved in an RTA in the Clio and have since bought a diesel Leon, which my particular Tunit does not fit. Obviously this is an unforeseen circumstance and I would imagine had I had the luck to continue with the Clio for a long time period as I had expected, the Tunit would have performed exactly as described on the site. I found fuel economy to be only very slightly improved (although I did upgrade to larger alloy wheels around the same time so this would undoubtedly have increased my fuel consumption from the original wheels), and I found a marked improvement in engine performance.

My main purchase intention was to extract more performance for my car. Tunit provided me this additional performance that I was looking for. Soon after that, I began to see a slight reduction in diesel consumption and this was interesting. I adjusted my driving habits, taking into account the additional performance, and the fuel savings was more regular. It seems that I now have the best of both worlds - performance when I need it most, and low fuel consumption at other times. Tunit was really easy to fit and its adjustable performance levels allowed me to experiment and find the best compromise between drivability, performance and fuel economy.

Well, its amazing! I could not believe that fitting this little box would be like fitting a brand new engine. Power went up, so acceleration improved. We have an Auto box, and the changes became smoother. Then the big bonus - 14% improvement in economy on the school run, over 20% when doing long distance motorway. Previously our Grand Espace was stuck on 25.7mpg. since fitting the Tunit we get on average 29.5mpg. On the motorway, with a long journey we see 34mpg (before we'd be lucky to get 27mpg). So all in all, it makes for a better drive, better economy and is like buying a totally different car. Dealer serviced it recently and not a mention was given about the Tunit :-)

Hi Adam,
Just to say thanks for looking after me today, I thought the service was excellent, both in terms of the package (how easy it was to book my car in, how quickly the work was completed, the road test/instruction and of course the unit itself) and indeed how pleasant and professional everyone I spoke to was.
Of course the real important thing to me is the product itself, I had obviously expected to see an improvement in performance based on what I had read on your website and indeed the various Saab forums I visit on the internet, however I can honestly say I got a bit of a shock when we went out on the test drive. At certain points in the range it really doesn?t feel like my car, there is a very clear surge of power from 3,000 rpm upwards which feels great! Had a very good run back down to Nuneaton, and really got to see what a difference it has made on the toll road! I am looking forward to learning the limits of my car all over again, I can honestly say that it feels like a new car altogether!
Too early to say what the fuel consumption will be like, but given that I have been driving the car with real ?spirit? since the unit was fitted and the estimate on my fuel computer I think it will be at least comparible than it was prior to the Tunit being fitted.
Would not delay in recommending you product or service to anyone, and I now hope to persuade my Dad to get his 530d done!

Hi Dan, Have left it a while to thoroughly check my findings, and am very pleased - this last tweak, along wih the K & N filter means I am now locally on 44 to 46MPG, on a run 57 to 60MPG, the torque does not seem to be affected for it still accelerates in high gears from 1200RPM, and lots of torque by 1500RPM, but the even more surprising result over two longish but in traffic journeys tugging my 1500kg caravan gave me 36MPG, excellent. All on a tank top fill basis so no computer optimism included!
This setting certainly suits the engine.

I have had my unit installed for
some months, at first I had problems with fuel consumption! higher than
without the unit in. I phoned your experts and was advised to take the unit
from a setting of 3 to max(9). I was also told that your operative believed
that torque was the secret for performance and lower fuel consumption.
I can now after extensive use of my car towing (a 24foot van) tell you he
was spot on! I use the torque where it applies to my outfit, I can tow
comfortably at 53mph at 1600rpm, the available torque allows for a down
change if needed for hill climbing, fuel consumption 33-36 mpg over the
whole journey.
Be fair! at 1600rpm the engine is just ticking over. Now I can also tow the

Visited Tunit in Chorley where I was warmly greeted by Lisa, Dan and Michael.
To cut a long story short, I brought my wife's 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9, which gave 150.1bhp and 269.4 lb/ft torque when placed on the rolling road.
After Tunit weaved their magic, the figures rose to 176.2mpg and 318.2 lb/ft torque. Plus, average mpg ony journey there was 62; on the way back it averaged 68!Impressed? You bet! Driving impressions? Stunning!
Would I recommend you visit them? Unequivocally 'yes'! I will be submitting a full review shortly, suffice to say I am suitably impressed with Tunit! But don't just take my word for it, go and visit them yourselves; you WON'T be disappointed!

Fitting it was a doddle, took all of 15 seconds. I love it, the midrange throttle response is brilliant. When I fill up the projected distance per tank is shown as 685 miles, where it used to show 590. I've not yet used a full tank so I can't give you definite figures, but it does look encouraging. I have left the device set at factory settings (mark 5). Is there any downside to cranking it up to full power? I suppose the next question would be if there are any benefits to cranking it up?

I received my unit back on the 18th and refitted it over the weekend - what a difference. My Skoda is a different car! All “hollow diesel knock” has now disappeared and the engine performs with increased smoothness (pulling smoothly from 30 mph - 1100/1200 rpm in 4th gear!) and noticeably more pulling power through the gears. With the engine electronics now "put back to spec.” by VW after their emissions scandal and the Tunit unit working correctly, I am impressed. "I was recently fortunate to receive a telephone call from the Managing Director of Tunit to inform me that I was the winner of a competition they had placed on Facebook.
Forever the sceptic, my initial response was that of disbelief, swiftly followed by "ok, I suppose you want my credit card details now, hahaha!" etc.
Fortunately, Michael convinced me that I was indeed the winner, and all that was required was that I attend their HQ at Chorley to have the unit fitted to a car of my choice.
Forever the gentleman, I decided to have the upgrade on my wifes 70k Fabia vRS 130.
So, on an unseasonably cold and (very) windy day i headed along the M1 and M62 to my appointment. The journey, at normal motorway speeds, but with severe side and headwinds, showed on the OBC that I had achieved around 60mpg, which I was very satisfield with; indeed, I wondered how Tunit could fulfil their claims that I would see improved mpg figures after fitment.
Upon arrival, I was warmly met by Lisa and Dan (who was to conduct the before-and-after rolling road sessions, and who would fit the unti), and also joined by Michael, the MD.
The first order of business was for the Fabia to be put on the rolling road; for those of you who have never seen their own car put on a rolling road, it is a very loud event and not for the faint-hearted!
Dan predicted that the engine, in standard form, would probably be near the 150bhp mark, rather than the 130bhp VAG claim; and the rolling road revealed he was absolutley spot on.
The Tunit unit was then fitted, and a further rolling road session undertaken; with the unit on the middle setting, the engine produced 176bhp. Yes, thats correct, 176bhp.
A test drive came next, accompanied by Dan.
Without wishing to wax lyrical, (and may I say I'm not on the payroll of Tunit) the on-road performance is totally transformed; overtaking manoeuvres are completed in a blink of an eye, in-gear acceleration is amazing, and the need to chang

I appreciate its early days but I thought I would let you know how pleased I am after Tuesday. Well more than pleased!!!

What was an excellent engine before has now been improved no end all round. I find myself wanting to drive it for no good reason other than to enjoy the released potential.

For example I had to go over to Leeds late tuesday night the M62 was quiet so the best way to describe it is "I drove it like i stole it". For the purposes of testing it out. I dont mean just high speeds fifth gear an all round caning.

When I got home around 150 miles later i did a double take mpg was showing 48.6.

Although my car gets well used doubt if I have ever given it the grief it had then so the mpg was a big surprise. Conservatively that's an increase of 6 or 7 mpg.

When I revert back to my "normal" mode I am sure the mpg will be even better.

As you could see I am no boy racer just a car enthusiast so not interested in top speed or 0 to 60 mph etc.

But at the other end of the scale as part of my testing i took it on a local industrial estate tonight and just leaving at tickover had it pottering around in third gear no problem even on a slight incline. No judder snatching etc. Third is long legged as well. Not something you do often but just shows the other side. Prior to the Tunit wouldnt do that at all.

So as you can see I am well pleased to say the least.

Obviously I will monitor the mpg over a full tank but i think I know what the result will be.

Thanks for the excellent all round service I received you have a good friendly set up there.

Many thanks for the customer support enquiry. The answer is Yes we managed to fit the device successfully.
We have left it on the factory setting 5 and it has transformed the engine. It has improved the fuel burn from cold , the engine smoked a little originally even though it had only covered 20,000 miles. It is noticeably more powerful through the rev range and clearly has more torque than the stock programming.

Had it fitted yesterday at Gorse Motors Barnham. The test drive was great and the drive home even better. Well impressed at this time - could be a good decision having it done, my Rav's performance is much improved. I may also get my Maxus van done later.

The Hilux is used to tow machinery and tools to and from jobs every day. These can be up to 30 miles away. A trailer is being towed nearly all the time with either a tonne or so of topsoil or hardcore or a mini-digger in. This is why the large torque gains where so beneficial to me and the company. This extra torque meant that the fully laden trailer could be pulled at far lower revs resulting in huge gains in fuel economy. The extra power when the trailer is taken off from the tunit still impresses me everytime.

Hi Jamie,
Just a short update- I used to get around 450kms on a tank @ 65-70mph. Now I have done around the same milage at the same speed and the tank is just under half full still! The power is phenomenal, and as I said previously the drive is much more enjoyable.

I bought a K&N air filter from a local shop which replaces the factory one and the engine works much better and also sounds better. I went abroad with my car and was impressed with the difference at top speed and fuel consumption the Tunit made. Here in Malta we don't have long roads so I tried it while I was in Italy. Two years ago I went to Italy and the fastest I went was 155kph. This time with the Tunit I went 170kph and would have gone further but the speedometer only reads up to 170kph. Here in Malta I'm doing about 75 km extra with a full tank with the Tunit.

The Tunit was fitted to my Toyota Previa. This transformed my Previa (114 bhp) from a `Gutless Wonder` to a car able to keep up with the likes of Galaxy and Espace and leave them behind on hills. At the same time my fuel consumption went from 36/37 to a fantastic 44/46 m.p.g without me even trying to achieve an improvement. I was more than satisfied.

Arrived quickly and what a piece of kit!
Fitted to my 2004 Rav4 and the acceleration, performance, fuel consumption, pretty much general running of the engine is unbelievable!
Not played with the settings yet but will be doing soon.
As for fitting, if you do have a Gen2 Rav4 take it to be fitted for you due to the fiddly area of rail senor!

Have been running Rav on setting number 8 for a while and fuel consumption on average about 5% better than standard but because the engine responds better I do tend to drive quicker than I should so don't save as much as I probably could. Torque much better because I can drive in higher gears at lower speeds than standard set up. Tows 2008 Swift Challenger 480 really easily without too much gear changing. Have recently moved the control to number 9 and so far seems to have improved performance and torque even more. I was talking to fellow tower with standard Rav 2.0 D4D and he was saying he was disappointed that he had to keep changing gear when towing due to lack of torque. I did give him your phone number.
Very pleased with the system in general. Easy to fit except for the silly place Toyota put the fuel rail connector plug.

I like the economy the tunit offers but when the opportunity presents its self i love the increased power and acceration it generates. I tend to walk locally and only use my car (volvo s60)for journeys of any distance, however using your, Tunit, a k&n filter and shell "v" power diesel & keeping to 68/70 mph on a trip north up the a1 which included a long stretch of 50mph road works, at the end of which the cars on board computer was telling me i was averaging 75 miles to the gallon.... how good was that!!!! When trying something new the type of warranty your firm offers gave me the confidence to spend what first appears to be a lot of money.... something I wouldn't have done without the "try be for you buy" offer and the guarantee.

Good improvement to smoothness of volvo D5 (not the smoothest diesel in the world) and noticeable low-mid range power. Very happy with improvement.
Keith Godbolt from ,
Volvo,
Just wanted to update you with progress.
No problems fitting the unit now - quite clear where the little tinker is supposed to reside. Plug fitted in-circuit in about 10 mins then a bit of head scratching on where to position the unit itself. In the end I went for what looks like a redundant plastic bracket at the front of the air filter assembly on nearside (I'm thinking plastic might reduce vibration somewhat) and the cable routes alongside other cables on top of the rad. This also makes it easy to uninstall for service time (I'm a bit paranoid about Volvo dealer whingeing about warranty etc. so I'll take the short time to remove and refit as it's so straightforward). Couldn't resist tweaking the dial from 5 to 6 but won't go beyond that - no need in retrospect.
Results: Amazing! Very, very impressed that such a straightforward addition can provide substantive and noticeable all round improvements - without any apparent compromises (are there any?) - specifically:
- Engine is much smoother, particularly at idle up to about 1600 rpm which is normal 'about town' traffic; is also smoother at motorway speeds
- Noticeable improvement in power/torque at mid- high-range rpm and certainly faster pick up from low revs - there was a considerable 'lag' before that has reduced considerably. It's a different drive.
- After just one weekend and about 250 miles of mixed motoring the mpg meter is returning an improvement of +2mpg to normal (now just over 48mpg) - I've not got over this before and I'm certain with some longer runs this is going to be much improved - I'll let you know in a month's time how it's going.
End result - very happy for now. What I don't understand is how or why Volvo with all their R&D capability can't deliver this on the car itself? Or is this just 2 years of technology development?
Thanks a

Having bought a second hand VW Transporter T4 many years ago without the intercooler, I always felt it was a little sluggish. It just needed a bit more get up and go. A friend mentioned Tunit to me and one was soon fitted. What an amazing difference it made. It felt like the engine had been set free. Much more umph which made it easier to drive and about 10% more mpg. The centre that I bought it from were very helpful in getting it set up how I wanted with a little tweek here and there when ever I passed by. It didn't take long before I fitted one to my Skoda Fabia VRS. This was just incredible. It took off like a rocket, had so much more get up and go, more fuel economy - about 12% better and was even more enjoyable to drive. When the good old T4 finally had to go and was replaced by a T5, I knew I'd be OK with the lower hp model because I could add a Tunit to that. Once again there was a total revelation in the power from the new van. At least 10% better fuel economy along with the usual other benefits. When ever I now tow a trailer I just turn up the Tunit to 10 to give me a bit more power, which helps immensely when pulling away with a heavy load up hill. Superb is a good word to describe these units and several of my friends that now have them would agree.

I?m really pleased with the Boras performance since you worked your magic.
283 lb/ft of peak torque and minimum 234 lb/ft (the standard spec peak) available between 1700 and 3200 RPM has transformed the drive.
The motorway overtake manoeuvre is now: let the car pass by, accelerate (in 6th) and pull out - oh and then brake to avoid running into back of the car that has just overtaken me :)
Well pleased.
We have a trip to Lindisfarne next week in Northumberland and en route there are a few longish A road climbs where it should excel.
I?ll keep you posted about my MPG.
Follow up email, received 23rd October 2007:
Hi Dan,
I thought I would give you an update.
The Bora performed extremely well enroute to Holy Island up in Northumberland. It was always good on hills, but now they cease to exist!. I think the fuel consumption remains as good as it was before the Tunit was fitted, 61 MPG on the trip covering the 200 miles in 210 minutes with a full load and a tide to catch avoid gives little cause for complaint!
My perception is that 4th gear now accelerates the way 3rd used to do and 6th in turn accelerates like 5th did. But of course has a much wider range which is redoubled because the torque hangs in much longer.
Imagine if it had a seven speed box.
I would also like to thank you again for the excellent & conscientious service you provided.

Hi Rik,
I got the Tunit box this morning as you said and fitted it in ten minutes!
Brilliant results, superb fuelling and smooth power delivery. The car really pulls harder in the higher gears and is lovely to drive. I drove a 2000 mile road trip and on average i was getting 54.3 MPG, that is a massive improvement from what i was getting before. Very pleased and your service was top notch. Once again many thanks, a fantastic product.

I would highly recommend Tunit, great customer service. Both the Optimum Plus and Power Pedal have made a considerable difference to my car with regards to acceleration. Nigel Kearney from High Peak,

June 2009
Hi

With regards to the Scirocco I can make a number of observations since the Tunit has been fitted:

· The fuel consumption has improved with the journey back from Silverstone showing 61.5 mpg travelling at an average of 80mph the car having 3 passengers plus me and a boot full of luggage. The overall average is holding at 53.5mpg being approx 8% better than before the unit was fitted.

· Performance wise the pulling power has noticeably improved giving a sense of urgency to the acceleration. The set up of the Scirocco with its lower profile wider tyres and sportier suspension seems more than able to cope with the increase and I would suggest that it could manage a little more. This is born out with the introduction of the 260bhp S3 version recent shown in the Top Gear Mag.

· The drivability is still as good as before the mod.

Thanks

Well, words can't describe it. I think that I said to you that I never expected to change my other Passat and this one was in fact a most unexpected present (some present!!) and I bought the tunit, which makes the car absolutely stunning. It is such a wonderful combination of power, torque and flexibilty; I find it breathtaking - as do all passengers to date. I can hardly wait to see how it performs with the caravan when I set out tomorrow. I will send you a postcard from Provence to let you know what the verdict is, but I know that it will be superb.
